Highlights
Another fantastic day at the annual Sainsbury's Digital, Tech and Data colleague conference, held this year at the NEC.
I think it’s fair to say everyone took something from our day, and I wanted to say a massive thank you to all of our technology partners who went out of their way to give the delegates an innovative and immersive experience, and ultimately made the day possible.
It was a pleasure to go through our product roadmaps for the next quarter and to also celebrate the success of what we’ve shipped in the first quarter of the year.
I’m massively proud of being a member of this team, and also taking part in another superb event organised completely by our teams.
It’s also just great to spend time with colleagues and friends chatting through some interesting subject matter.
Well that was one of my best ever days at work.
The first Sainsbury's Digital, Tech and Data Product Con which was amazingly put together by our amazing community of practice.
It was so good to spend quality time ‘off the pitch’ with our c.300 product colleagues. The speaker line up was sensational and I can’t remember the last conference where I was so engrossed in the content across the whole day.
To say we had some product gurus was an understatement, so a massive thank you to Jason Knight, Randy Silver, Gretchen Hingston and Marty Cagan for giving up your time and teaching us all so much. All 4 of you were really inspiring and I’ve never heard so much positivity about a conference line up.
A big thank you as well to our very own Claire Hughes for also going a fantastic talk on data led decisioning.
So much for us to think about now as we go back to the day job. Some of my personal takeaways:
- reviewing the problems we are trying to solve
- winning over the hearts and minds of our stakeholders
- ensuring we’re spending our energy on the things that matter the most
- how does Product thrive within a matrix set up
- everything should start with data
- product management is a hard job
- apply product management to product management
What a day !
