How does Earth Day, a pending EU legislation vote, the Green Media Summit and GARM standards all tie together? Read below for my view on how this week may be a turning point for brining more sustainability into the advertising industry:
This year’s Earth Day coincidentally falls within the same week that the EU legislature is slated to vote on an updated sustainability framework. This framework, called Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CS3D), could have a potentially significant impact on how companies will need to account for their environmental harm within their supply chain (the framework also includes potential human rights harms but this post will focus just on the environmental aspect). Many business leaders, especially those in the sustainability field, are eagerly awaiting the results of the vote. But the ad industry should be keeping eyes on this too.
