Today's episode of NYTimes.com The Daily examines the adolescent mental health crisis, focusing on the increasing rates of depression and suicidal thoughts among kids, and the dire lack of resources available to families to cope with these challenges. The pediatrician interviewed in the podcast remarks that she was not adequately trained to address their needs and unfortunately has nowhere to send her patients... even ERs are overwhelmed and ill-equipped, with as many as 5,000 adolescents seeking their help each day. We have heard that up to 40% of pediatricians' waiting rooms are filled with kids seeking mental health support.
At Redesign Health, we're focused on improving health for everyone — and we're acutely aware of this crisis and the urgent need to address it.
