James Tynan
Partner at Square Peg
James Tynan is a Partner at Square Peg Capital, one of Australia's largest venture capital funds.13 He joined Square Peg in 2020 after running Startmate, Australia's leading seed fund and startup network.4 Prior to his role at Square Peg, Tynan had a diverse career in technology and entrepreneurship:
- He helped scale Khan Academy to become the world's largest edtech organization while based in Silicon Valley.4
- Tynan founded and sold a startup in digital archiving.4
- He helped start the healthcare practice at McKinsey & Company in Australia.4
At Square Peg, Tynan has led investments in companies such as Vow (cultured meat), Neara (3D infrastructure modeling), Partly (car parts marketplace), and Blinq (digital business card).1 He focuses on investing in exceptional founders solving significant problems across Australia, Israel, and South-East Asia.2
Tynan holds a law degree and a university medal from the University of Technology Sydney (UTS).4 Outside of work, he spends time with his children and has a keen interest in longevity science.4
