In 2002, James established First Chair Music, a private music lesson business that has blossomed into an essential auxiliary music school for Woodland students. His entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to fostering musical education reflect his belief that the arts play a critical role in holistic education. Through First Chair Music, he has helped countless students enhance their musical skills and explore the world of performance.
Beyond his educational endeavors, James is a co-founder and president of Bootless Stageworks, a prominent non-profit theater dedicated to supporting emerging artists while engaging diverse audiences with contemporary works. Under his leadership, Bootless has successfully upheld its mission, which emphasizes the importance of a strong organizational vision in the arts sector. James's experience in theater has not only enriched his own artistic repertoire but has also provided invaluable insights into leadership and organizational dynamics, which he applies across all facets of his professional life.
James’s background as a classically trained vocalist and conductor showcases his deep-rooted passion for music.
