Dr. James Wakefield, a highly accomplished professional, earned his PhD from the renowned Gurdon Institute in Cambridge. He has a rich academic background with postdoctoral experience in Rome, Italy, and Bristol, UK. Dr. Wakefield served as a Principal Investigator at the Department of Zoology at Oxford from 2004 to 2009 before transitioning to the Department of Biosciences at Exeter in 2010, where he holds the position to date. Currently, Dr. Wakefield serves as an Associate Professor at the Departments of Biosciences and Life Sciences Institute at the University of Exeter, where he also excels as the Head of the Department.

His educational journey began with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from the University of Bristol, laying the foundation for his fruitful career in academia. Dr. Wakefield's commitment to education and research is evident through his various roles in esteemed academic institutions.

As the Head of Biosciences at the University of Exeter, Dr. Wakefield oversees critical academic and research activities, drawing on his expertise and experience in Integrative Cellular Biology.
