Jamie Ferguson

Jamie Ferguson was a highly respected colleague at Oxford University Innovation (OUI) and a friend to the Department of Chemistry at the University of Oxford. Tragically, he lost his life during the COVID-19 pandemic.12

In honor of Jamie Ferguson's memory and his enthusiasm for science and innovation, the University of Oxford established the Jamie Ferguson Innovation Awards, also known as "the Jamies." These awards celebrate innovative and impactful ideas emerging from students in the Departments of Chemistry and Materials.12

The Jamie Ferguson Innovation Awards provide:

  • A £500 cash prize for winners
  • A trophy recognizing their achievement
  • Support from Oxford University Innovation to advance their ideas towards commercial success1

The awards focus on ideas that help achieve one of the UN's sustainable development goals and aim to keep Jamie's passion for science and innovation alive.2

Applications for the 2025 Jamie Ferguson Innovation Awards are expected to open in Spring 2025.1
