Highlights
💪 17 years. There have been ups and downs, but I am grateful for the lifestyle this company has supported. Shout out to a friend who encouraged me to apply and supported me through the interview process years ago. No business background, I was a teacher with some sales experience. A bit of reflection ...
📚 Teachers. Unfortunately, good teachers get burnt out. Give them a chance. Corporate America has lots to gain from a learner at heart.
💙 Purpose. I have struggled to find my purpose and feel like I'm making a difference in my career. The Lord has blessed me and I want to fulfill His purpose for me. Through lots of conversation, I have become ok with being the smile to greet a colleague, taking advantage of learning through company resource groups - two favs: Adopt & Foster and Becoming Anti-Racist, being purposeful, growing and excelling in my role.
♻️ Sustainability. No official background, just a passion to learn and make a difference. I appreciate all of those who have mentored and guided me to a role I truly enjoy, and I do believe makes a difference by reducing waste in this consumable world.
👩👧👦 Parent. When I look back, this will be the title I'm most proud of. There are days I throw myself into my job because I was raised to be responsible, a go-getter, and achieve my goals. Hard to find a balance. Do I wish I had a bigger title and paycheck? Yes. But, more importantly, I'm thankful for having been afforded the flexibility to attend the games, performances, volunteer for field trips, be the coach, unplug and take family vacations. No regrets here! It's been a journey. Thankfully, I've had the right people around to keep me in check.
▶️ What's next? I'll keep smiling, keep pressing on and making a difference at work. And, most importantly, make sure I keep my priorities straight as my little humans are growing up too fast and I want to enjoy every moment of these precious years with them at home!
Hope you find your smile & balance today! 😊 ⚖️
Cheers to 17 years!
