Jana Scholze

Curator and Associate Professor at Kingston School of Art

Jana Scholze is a design curator and Associate Professor at the Kingston School of Art in London, leading the MA Curating Contemporary Design program in collaboration with the Design Museum.

With a background in Philosophy, Semiotics, and Museum Theory from Technische Universität Berlin, Jana's research and publications explore the intersections of interaction formats, contemporary design, society, technology, and the environment.

Having served as the Curator of Contemporary and Modern Furniture and Product Design at the Victoria and Albert Museum, Jana has curated exhibitions like 'What is Luxury?' (2015) and 'Cold War Modern' (2008), and continues her involvement as a Fellow at the museum.

Jana is actively engaged in academic and cultural institutions, being a member of the AHRC's Peer Review College, the boards of the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe in Hamburg, the Stanley Picker Gallery in London, and the idea journal board.

She co-initiated The Design Film Festival in 2020 and co-curated the 'At Home' exhibition for the XII International Design Biennial Saint-Etienne in 2022, showcasing her commitment to promoting design culture and discourse.

Throughout her career, Jana has held various roles including Research Fellow, Course Director, Director of Postgraduate Research, and Curator at prominent institutions such as Kingston University and the Victoria and Albert Museum, contributing significantly to the field of design curation and education.
