It took a long time to finally write this because it hadn’t sunk in until I began reading the training materials for my new job but here it goes… 3 weeks ago, I resigned from my position as a Sr. Administrative Professional at Georgia Tech Research Institute's CIPHER Lab. I'd relocated down to GA from Washington, DC in October 2017 and was fortunately able to secure employment before even getting here, all because Kathy Garcia and Mark Mitchell took a chance on me and invited me to join their lab and provide administrative support. Within the first six months, I'd gotten a PCard and my professional interest in procurement was formed. For the next four years, I was blessed to be a part of some major research projects, assisting with purchasing, contract negotiations, software renewals and everything in between. My right hand, Keisha Shivers guided me on the administrative side, while I received tons of support from people in the Business Operations department like Michael Cross and Jeremy Bowden . There are too many names to list, but I've gained professional (and sometimes, personal :) mentorship knowledge through Elbert Michael Ruiz and Paul Arnold, MBA, CISSP, PMP as well as having the nicest and most random conversations with research geniuses like Robert Clark and Robert Wyllie. After gaining a ton of immeasurable experience and support (again, professional AND personal) I will forever be grateful and more than proud of the CIPHER Lab (QSD, TMPO, IT and ESVD teams) for my time there and the work that I was able to support. #procurement #research #business #business #CIPHER #georgiatech
