Janice Nadeau

Janice Nadeau is a Professor at École de design de l'UQAM (Université du Québec à Montréal) where she teaches drawing and illustration.1 She holds a Ph.D. (2023) and a master's degree (2018) in research-creation from the département d'études cinématographiques et d'histoire de l'art de l'Université de Montréal, as well as a bachelor's degree in graphic design from UQAM (2002).1

Nadeau is an accomplished illustrator and animator. She has illustrated over ten books, including "Un herbier de Montréal" (2017) and "HARVEY" (2008), and has won the prestigious Governor General's Award in Illustration three times (2004, 2008, 2009).1 She has also co-directed and directed three animated films: "HARVEY" (2023), "Mamie" (2016), and "Nul poisson où aller" (2014), which have been selected for official competition in more than 130 international festivals and have won numerous awards.1

In addition to her creative work, Nadeau has been teaching at UQAM's École de Design since 2013 and became a full professor in 2020.1 Her research and creative practice intersect various disciplinary methods, combining drawing, illustration, and animation.1
