Each spring I teach foreign correspondence at Stanford. The first piece I assign -- even in 2024 -- is a story about hunger in Venezuela -- from 2016 -- by Nicholas Casey. Nick in my view is the preeminent international reporter of our age. And when I saw he teamed up with war photojournalist Moises Saman for the NYT cover this past Sunday I couldn't wait to dive in. I simply can't think of a more talented pair. Their dispatch from Sudan, "the war the world forgot," as the The New York Times described it, is essential reading. Make sure to spend time with this package. Also check out Nick's first-person short video explainer. It's the type of international reporting that requires incredible bravery, resources, and commitment and that I wish we had more of. Kudos. So much admiration for them and this work. https://lnkd.in/gp2ARURH
