Janis Weeks is a seasoned professional with a rich background in research and academia, currently serving as the Co-Founder and Chief Global Health Officer at InVivo Biosystems (formerly NemaMetrix), a spin-off company from the University of Oregon.

With a focus on neurophysiology and neural circuits, Janis has a significant track record in utilizing these techniques for drug development, particularly in the areas of parasitic diseases in humans and animals, pre-clinical models of human disease, and technology advancement.

In addition to her current role, Janis has held leadership positions in various academic, federal, and nonprofit organizations, showcasing her expertise and experience in neuroscience education and research capacity building, notably in Africa.

Janis holds a B.S. in Applied Life Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Ph.D. in Biology/Neuroscience from UC San Diego, reflecting her strong academic foundation.

Her impressive career includes being a Former Professor Emerita of Biology at the University of Oregon, a Former Visiting Scholar at the University of Washington - School of Medicine, a Former Fellow at the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation at DKFZ German Cancer Research Center, and various other significant roles in distinguished institutions.

Moreover, Janis has comprehensive teaching experience, having served as an Instructor and Co-Director of a summer course at the Marine Biological Laboratory, demonstrating her commitment to both research and education.
