The eCommerce space offers some really fun challenges that traditional tech companies won't encounter, but these aren't the kind of challenges that warrant complex infrastructure.
The reality is that eCommerce businesses don't want to maintain complex infrastructure in the long run. You can build a nine figure eCommerce businesses on a monolith running on Heroku and invest all your engineering time in capabilities that move the needle. It's the right strategy for growth, and when the business finds the limits of that market, the system won't be a burden to maintain in perpetuity. No replatform required.
