Improvement in Action, Self-Defense and Training for Warriors Coach

Jari Peuhkurinen is a martial arts and self-defense expert with a career spanning over three decades, starting in 1987.

He initially trained in ITF Taekwondo for 10 years, achieving a 2nd-degree black belt and winning numerous national championships, including a Junior World Championship gold medal in power breaking in 1995.

Transitioning to more reality-based self-defense, Jari became a Krav Maga instructor in 1997, reaching Expert level 2 by 2005.

He has since developed his training method called Improvement in Action (IMPACT), focusing on a flexible approach rather than a rigid system.

In addition to Krav Maga, Jari has trained in various disciplines such as Escrima Concepts weapons system, Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Submission Wrestling.

With over two decades of teaching experience, Jari conducts weekly martial arts and self-defense classes both in Finland and internationally.

Beyond his martial arts expertise, Jari has a security-oriented professional background, serving in the Finnish Defense Forces for 14 years in military police and operations security roles.

He has also worked extensively as a bouncer in nightclubs and as a security guard.

Currently, Jari is a Self-Defense Coach at Improvement in Action training and has previously worked as a Training for Warriors Coach at Oulun Kamppailuklubi Oy and as a Soldier in the Finnish Defense Forces.
