Jasmine Thompson is the founder and former owner/operator of Philly Forests, an 8-acre farm located on the grounds of Awbury Arboretum in Germantown, Philadelphia.12 She established Philly Forests in 2020 with the mission of promoting urban forestry, wildlife habitat restoration, and nature education in Philadelphia.2

Philly Forests operates as both a farm and an urban ecology program. The farm grows and sells organic vegetables, using the revenue to fund its Urban Ecology Program. This program provides free trees, shrubs, and perennial plants to Philadelphia residents in the 13 zip codes with the lowest tree canopy.1
As of February 26, 2025, Jasmine Thompson is no longer with Philly Forests. She has joined Pasa Sustainable Agriculture, where she continues to work towards promoting sustainable farming practices and equitable resource distribution in agricultural programs.2
Outside of her professional life, Jasmine is a classical pianist working through Chopin's 21 nocturnes and enjoys foraging for mushrooms and herbaceous plants in the wild.2
