Exactly what I’ve been saying from the beginning. As a #charging industry, we need to identify and rally around a Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) provider to properly implement Plug & Charge – enabling a seamless charging payment experience for #customers.

Because the U.S. is taking so long to identify a singular organization to provide these PKI authentication services, Plug & Charge is currently a patchwork of mismatched technologies and systems that don’t work together.

The move to NACS is shaking up the industry, and SAE is smart to use this as an opportunity to correct long-standing problems and move aggressively to create a common system that ensures #interoperability.

Important news today: SAE announced it will govern NACS and turn it into a true consensus-based standard, with opportunities for stakeholder input.

My take: This is the leadership we needed to expedite full industry adoption of NACS — opening the door for federal and state governments to get behind it, too.
