New Year. Another Birthday...

And 3500 miles down the road.

I decided a couple of years ago to start walking (and eventually running) again. I needed some rugged road and trail shoes, and someone suggested Merrell Moabs.

I bought a pair of Moab 2s and hit the road. Who knew that five pairs (actually six, I have a nice waterproof pair for special occasions) later I'd still be wearing them.

Granted, they changed to Moab 3s (I preferred the 2s, but the differences were very minor)...but...the point here is about consistency and quality. I buy them online, don't have to worry about will they fit, are they good, etc. And while they are known for their customer service, I have never had a need to engage with them. (Another testament to their quality.)

And no, this isn't a commercial for Merrell, and it's not a challenge to go start running --- it's to show that when you consistently offer a product of value, customers stay with you, make repeat purchases, enjoy their purchase, and tell others about your product or service. Often, for years.

Are there better shoes out there? Maybe. But guess how hard it is going to be to make me want to change? And if I do, how likely will I be to shift within the brand, instead of something completely different?

So thank you, Merrell, for 3500 miles (and counting).
