AI is a fantastic time-management coach, especially for sales leaders. Here’s how I use it to coach and guide me to make sure I’m using my time in the best way possible and to stay aligned with my priorities:

[PROMPT] I need to reorient my calendar around setting the foundation for my sales team. My typical day is 8am-5pm on Eastern time. Here are my priorities for the next 60 days:

  1. Build the habits of consistent prospective-customer outreach for both my AEs and my SDRs. This outreach can combine both teams, but needs to be sensitive to time zones. I have AE/BDR teams in Eastern time, Central time, and Pacific time.
  2. Build the skills of both my AEs and SDRs. I have a list of over 30 topics that are critical, foundation skills. I would like to make sure we are doing training at least 3 times/week, probably an hour at a time
  3. Spend at least 10 hours/week on social selling, ideally more like 15+ so that I can drive awareness of the impact of AI on the profession of sales, leveraging my personal brand. The output of this is that I will be able to drive lead generation far more effectively for my team.
  4. Significant hiring push over the next 60 days. I need to hire 2 mid-market AEs, 1 enterprise AE, and 2 SDRs
  5. Over the next 2 weeks, I need to execute a market-scan survey. The goal is to get 20 executive sales leaders, primarily from my network, to respond to the survey and a subset of them to agree to deploy our AI forecasting tool in their companies for at least 30 days
  6. Defining our sales process. Immediate term I need to define and document the discovery/demo process that our AEs will execute.
  7. Some time each week to support the marketing team, who I am working with to ensure alignment of web and demand gen activities with sales
  8. A 45 minute forecast review every Friday at 1:45PT ET.
  9. Some time each week for solo work. [END PROMPT]

With this prompt, it will provide a recommended weekly structure. As I get ready for each week, I can drop an image of my calendar into the thread and it tells me how I’m doing against my priorities, along with making recommendations for change.

If this is helpful, please let me know!

How AI supercharged my job search…

After a whirlwind couple weeks onboarding at Collective[i] (thanks to the whole team here who have been super welcoming and supportive), I wanted to share some of the things I learned in my job search that will hopefully help all my friends who may also be searching for something new.

First topic: using AI to do interview prep. This was a total gamechanger for me once I started doing it. I walked into every interview feeling fully ready and confident that I was in a great position to focus on connecting with the interviewer rather than figuring out or tuning answers on the fly. I’ve done lots of interview prep (and sales call prep) over my career, and nothing has come close to the level of prep this provided.

Before each interview, jump into ChatGPT and use these prompts: Prompt 1: “Here is my resume” and attach your resume Prompt 2: Copy the role description from the company website. “Here is the job description of the role I’m pursuing”, SHIFT-ENTER, then paste the description Prompt 3: “The person I’m interviewing with is [insert their job title]. This is a [insert interview stage here] interview. You are playing the role of the interviewer. Ask me a series of questions, one at a time, to interview me for the role. After each question, provide feedback on my response and then ask the next question.”

Then you can copy this entire series of questions and responses and put them wherever you want so you can review and revise as needed (I used Notion for my entire job search, more on that in another post). I hope it’s as effective for you as it was for me!
