Highlights
Billy Bean was one of the most compassionate, giving and kindest person I have ever known. He welcomed us into the Major League Baseball (MLB) partnership with open arms and always stay connected. He was tireless and lived fully. This is heartbreaking. He most recently attended the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Gala with us, and always a vocal advocate for equality. He was larger than life, and made everyone in his orbit feel included and better about themselves. Billy will be missed but never forgotten, because of who he was and his enduring impact. 🙏🏼 What a legacy he leaves.
“Kevin Plank Returns to Under Armour as CEO”…is outstanding news to receive.
We are thrilled for our friend, longtime client and fellow board director, Kevin Plank, returning to Under Armour as CEO. Although he stepped away for four years, he comes in more inspired and motivated than ever.
Those who know Kevin, know that he is consumed by ideas, always thinking about how to make a better product for UA’s customers. Kevin was responsible for introducing us to Tom Brady and dozens of other clients who trust and admire him.
Kevin’s story in launching Under Armour is one of the greatest entrepreneurial founder stories ever.
• He became a billionaire in his 30s.
• Initially ran his company from his grandma's basement and selling t-shirts to college athletes out of his car. He launched the business while he was a walk-on football player at University of Maryland.
• Used multiple credit cards to initially fund his business and going deep into debt, and goving away a lot of product to college teams to try.
• Sold $17k worth of product during in his first year of business.
• Under Armour revenues about $6 billion, and just a portion of his entrepreneurial impact and outcomes under his Sagamore Ventures portfolio.
We wish Kevin and his team the very best of success in his return to UA!
