When a company is knowingly harming our children to make a little extra money, we have to stand up and do what is right.
Today, I filed an activist letter with Alex Spiro against Kellogg Company WK Kellogg Co to demand they stop their unethical behavior of selling inferior, more harmful versions of their products to American children.
Kellogg sells safer, superior products in other countries while making inferior, more harmful versions full of artificial food dyes (that require warning labels in the EU) and the preservative BHT to unknowing American families. In 2015, they pledged, to media acclaim, to rid their products of these unnecessary additives by 2018, and then quietly abandoned this pledge as they continue to make new cereals with these harmful additives that require warning labels or are banned in other countries.
Americans should receive the safest, most responsible versions of products that Kellogg already produces abroad - even if it lowers their margins by a few pennies. This is corporate greed at its finest - Kellogg, you can do better.
Because the U.S. has looser (and more corrupt) health regulations thanks to the profiteering lobbyists, many of the other Big Food companies engage in the same unethical behavior with their U.S. vs. foreign versions of their products.
The only way we will fix our U.S. health crisis is by raising awareness, voting with our wallets and holding these companies accountable for putting profit over people’s health. This is why we created HumanCo - to restore trust and quality in a broken food system that is making us all sick.
