Jason Melehani

Dr. Jason Melehani is a highly accomplished individual with a diverse background in medicine, pharmacology, and biotechnology. He holds both a medical degree and a doctorate in pharmacology from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.

During his academic journey, Dr. Melehani delved into the intricate molecular mechanisms of the innate immune system's interaction with Staphylococcus aureus. This research laid the foundation for his interest in drug development, where he focuses on understanding medication evidence and innovating new therapeutic targets and medicines.

His professional experience includes a fellowship at Hatteras Venture Partners, a prominent venture capital firm in North Carolina specializing in healthcare and biotechnology. At Hatteras, Dr. Melehani collaborated with investment teams to identify early-stage therapeutic development companies with the potential to revolutionize medicine.

Dr. Melehani furthered his training by completing his residency in Internal Medicine at Stanford University. Additionally, he participated in Stanford's Translational Investigator Program, exploring immune-mediated pathogenesis in lung diseases.

Currently, Dr. Melehani is pursuing dual fellowship training in Rheumatology and Pulmonary Medicine at Stanford, a unique combined program in the country. His primary focus is on studying autoimmune conditions affecting the lungs, such as Sjogren's syndrome and systemic sclerosis.

He is preparing to launch a clinical study investigating the impact of Sjogren's syndrome on patients with various lung diseases. By conducting this study, Dr. Melehani aims to enhance our understanding of how Sjogren's contributes to pulmonary symptoms and pathology, while also exploring lung diseases in other autoimmune disorders.

Dr. Melehani's educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics from the University of California, Los Angeles, in addition to his MD/PhD training at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.

Throughout his career, Dr. Melehani has showcased a commitment to medical research and innovation, making significant contributions to the fields of pharmacology, internal medicine, and biotechnology.
