I want to expand upon the advice I shared here in the Forbes Business Council article below:
Put it away.
Turn off your notifications. Turn off the sound. Turn on Do Not Disturb.
Whatever you have to do to get the constant attention-seeking virtual world to leave you alone for a while.
Put your devices away, and sit with an open, blank notebook and pen.
Start with a list of things to-do (including demands from the virtual world), and feel confident that you have acknowledged that it exists, but it's time to work on something else for a while.
If you're anything like me, you have to be disciplined, and borderline aggressive, about it. You owe it to yourself to sit with your own brilliant, creative mind and allow it to drive once in a while.
And just so we're clear, I'm mostly writing this post as a reminder to myself 🙂

How do you show up to work?
Do you perform as "on"? Do you share just the surface level of yourself? Isn't it exhausting?
What if you could be the same "you" who plays with your kids, travels with your partner, hosts game nights with you friends? The same you who brings immense value to your life and the life you share with those dearest to you.
At Fringe, we set the expectation that we want out people to "be the same person all the time."
Yes, we can set that expectation.
But leaders, are you giving your people the opportunity to bring their full self to work?
Craig Goodliffe shares his advice in the article below for holding space for the whole person you hired and saw value in.
Remember, you're not hiring resources - you're hiring humans.
