I don’t typically post to LinkedIn; I just really use the platform to find connections or review the use of products for different business initiatives. However, I’ve felt obligated to share that I was recently selected as a winner of Comcast’s Circle of Success award for 2022.
I was honored earlier this month at a ceremony for being an Employee Empowerment Role Model. Not to boast, but in my career, I have received many awards. Most were from my time working in the public sector for meritorious service, investigative honors, or life saves; however, none of them quite hit my heartstrings as much as this. The reason is that my team and leaders are who nominated me. They took the time out of their busy lives to recognize the efforts I put into my team daily. And out of the hundreds nominated, I was selected based on their narratives. This meant a lot to me.
My team consists of those staffing the Cable HQ Security Operations Center and Cable HQ Security’s Systems Administration. The individuals on these two teams are dedicated to providing the gold standard of support and first-class security operations to our global book of business, and they do so with style and grace. They are always willing to help and go the extra mile for anyone who needs it. This all makes it easy to lead such a talented group of individuals who have such a positive outlook and buy-in to our program. Rayan, Jose, Paul, Rayhtza, Wayne, Prasanna, Mike, Rick, Aaron, Kathryn, Daniel, Chris, Joe, Max, and everyone else - you are all what makes it all work. This being said, these folks regularly remind me that they are here and so damn positive because of my efforts. Typically, that rolls off their tongue and I shoot back a witty response but thank them for rubbing my belly to make me feel better. But when I won this award, it sank in a little. These folks do care about how I lead them, and what my leaders empower me to do daily makes each of their lives just a little better. That’s a lesson for my three sons that rack up there with the ‘dad story’ I tell about leadership to those who know me well.
I have had some great mentors in my time to learn from (Jeff, Bill, Dominic, Rick, Joe, Mark, Chris, Luke, Tom – you all should know who you are and where you stand with me). Each of you taught me lessons that I reference daily. Thank you for being the mentors you were/are to me. I am in the Circle of Success sharing the stage with some very talented teams and individuals because of it.
