Universal Health Coverage in India: Increasing Access to Healthcare Services
Universal Health Coverage is a part of National Health Policy 2017 and a key priority for the Government of India. At Abbott, we advocate for addressing barriers to living healthy lives. Abbott understands that the first step to living your “best life” is good health. We are committed to building life-changing technologies that keep your heart healthy, nourish your body at every stage of life, bring you breakthroughs, high quality medicines, information and support services to manage your health. We collaborated with the Economist’s Intelligence Unit to conduct an objective review of policy strategies that determine access to basic healthcare with the aim to provide an overview of inputs required to achieve UHC in India. The study shows that adequate funding for primary care and increasing the Government’s fiscal allocation for health is vital to combat dual-burden of NCDs and communicable diseases.. Ayushman Bharat - PMJAY which came into effect in September 2018 has the potential to address the concerns identified. We are confident that through use of technology, innovations and collaboration amongst stakeholders – India will reach the goal of providing UHC.
Here is a video that signifies our commitment towards building a thriving community and captures the efforts, collaboration and the One-Abbott spirit. Kudos to all the Abbottians who came forward and invested 700 hours of collective volunteering time in making this initiative an enriching experience for all of us. #GrowWithTheLeader #BeInspiredByWhatYouDo
