Jay Beale is a renowned figure in the field of information security, having created widely-used tools like Bastille Linux and the Center for Internet Security's first Linux/UNIX scoring tool.

With a wealth of experience dating back to 2000, Jay has conducted Linux security training at prestigious conferences like Black Hat, CanSecWest, RSA, and IDG, as well as within corporate settings.

As an accomplished author, series editor, and speaker, Jay has been involved in the production of nine books, two columns, and has delivered over a hundred public talks on various security topics.

He played a pivotal role in establishing the Linux security standard for the Center for Internet Security and has been actively involved in projects like Mitre's OVAL and the O'Reilly Security Conference.

In addition to his contributions to the cybersecurity community, Jay Beale is the co-founder and CTO of InGuardians, a prominent information security consultancy with multiple offices across the United States.

His specialties include Kubernetes and cloud-native penetration testing, security architecture review, web application and network penetration testing, vulnerability assessment, training, and security product architecture and development.

Jay's educational background encompasses studies in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science in a PhD program at the University of Maryland, as well as a BS in Mathematics and Physics from the University of Maryland Baltimore County.

Throughout his career, Jay has held various key positions at InGuardians, including CEO, CTO, Principal Security Consultant, and COO, demonstrating his multidimensional expertise and leadership within the organization.

He has previously worked as a Training Instructor and Course Author at Black Hat, Project Lead at Bastille Linux, Director of Security Team at Mandriva, and in diverse roles at InGuardians, showcasing his adaptability and proficiency in the cybersecurity realm.
