Hello everyone! I'm trying something new. With the multiple genocides taking place, I've been finding ways to channel my thoughts and this ongoing anger with our society and systems that keep us disassociated from the realities of the world while disconnecting us from our humanity. Research and creative writing have been a space for me to let it out. Check out my Substack. My latest piece is an homage to childhood roadtrips to my mother's home land. #immigration #liberation #community
'Progressive organizations often invoke the threat of funder backlash to justify remaining silent about Palestine. This helps to normalize the “progressive except Palestine” position on the Left, where organizations and movements that stand for human rights and racial, gender and economic justice can remain silent on the Israeli government’s ongoing human rights abuses of the Palestinian people. Taking this position dehumanizes Palestinians especially, and Muslims and Arabs more broadly. We cannot claim to stand for human rights, social justice and dignity for all if we sit on our hands when it comes to the lives of Palestinians. As nonprofits, our raison d’être is to accomplish our missions — not to exist in perpetuity while injustice prevails.'
