Jean-Baptiste Richardier is a seasoned journalist and humanitarian with a rich history of dedication to aiding refugees and individuals affected by landmines and conflicts around the world.

Starting his career as a journalist at Quotidien du Médecin in 1977, Dr. Richardier ventured into humanitarian work by spending two years in Ethiopia during a civil war.

His passion for helping others led him to volunteer in refugee camps in Thailand for MSF and SOS Enfants sans Frontière before co-founding Handicap International in 1982.

Throughout his career at Handicap International, Dr. Richardier held various roles including Director of Programs, Co-Director overseeing Communication and Development, and ultimately becoming the General Director in 2003.

In addition to his work with Handicap International, he was actively involved in Action Nord Sud and led the merger of Handicap International with Atlas Logistique in 2006.

Beyond his contributions to Handicap International, Dr. Richardier also served as President of Survey Action Center, focusing on the socio-economic impacts of landmines from 2000 to 2009.

His international efforts extended to coordinating the development of Handicap International's network in several countries and later becoming the Director General of the Handicap International Federation established in 2009.

Post his tenure at Handicap International, Dr. Richardier took on the task of establishing foundations in Switzerland and France, notably the Foundation Handicap International in Geneva.

In his later years, he remained engaged in humanitarian work through roles such as being a co-founder and administrator at the international review Alternatives Humanitaires, and contributing to the United Against Inhumanity movement.

Dr. Jean-Baptiste Richardier's academic journey includes studying medicine at Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1, along with earlier education at various institutions.
