Jean Gourd

Jean Gourd is a distinguished professional currently serving as the Chair of Computer Science and a Professor of Computer Science at the University of Tampa, FL.

With a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Computer Science from The University of Southern Mississippi and a Bachelor's degree in the same field, Jean Gourd has a strong educational background.

Beyond academia, Jean Gourd is actively engaged in outreach activities to promote computer science education, including workshops for middle and high school students on computer building, 3D printing, and cyber security.

His work aims to foster interest in STEM disciplines and attract students to higher education and industry.

Previously, Jean Gourd held various roles at Louisiana Tech University and The University of Southern Mississippi, including positions as Associate Professor, Program Chair, and Visiting Assistant Professor in the field of Computer Science and Cyber Engineering.

Before his academic career, he also worked as a River Guide at Nantahala Outdoor Center and a Sales Manager at Flowers Baking CO Bakeries.
