What is the most important language a marketing leader can learn to speak? Spoiler alert: The language of finance 💰

If you are in marketing and you cannot translate your hard work and effort into bottom line financial results for your business you are going to struggle.

This topic came about during an online debate regarding the power of CX with a panel of key executives from various industries.

According to PWC, 86% of buyers are willing to pay more for a great customer experience

CX also influences on-the-spot purchasing, too - as Segment reports that 49% of buyers have made impulse purchases after receiving a more personalized experience.

And finally, the Temkin Group found that companies that earn $1 billion annually can expect to earn, on average, an additional $700 million within 3 years of investing in customer experience.

With all of this evidence about the positive impact CX can have on businesses, during my debate we discussed that funding for CX in companies is often cut midyear, or under invested in. Why? Because a good CX program will take 3 years to drive a return. This is a big leap for many financially challenged companies today. Many teams have traditionally been unable to tie CX into direct revenues that excite a CEO or board. Luckily Qualtrics has helped many leaders craft a raodmap to get approvals. Crafting a great CX case in financially exciting terms is just one example of how financial metrics matter when communicating marketing to the executives in an organization. I'd love to know which metrics you find most helpful in your organization, and if learning the language of the CFO/CEO and board has helped your efforts grow.
