Ever think about the energy in your organization? Just like any living organism, it can be joyful and optimistic, or it can be hopeless and burnout-inducing. In the early days, it's crucial to closely monitor and nurture this energy. Hiring the right people with positive energy helps it grow and thrive. But hire the wrong people, and their bad mojo will spread.

At a recent event, someone asked me, “What do you do for work?” My answer: “I don’t work. I go to a place I enjoy, spend time with people I love, and solve hard problems.” That’s the dream, right? And as leaders, we should aim for our people to feel this way because it creates the best environment for everyone.

Some worry that fun at work means less productivity. But in reality, a great environment generates productivity. When people love what they do, they’re motivated to give their best every day. So why wouldn’t you want a high-energy, fun work environment? It baffles me that some leaders don't strive for this. As a leader, this is your space, and you work in it every day. Make it a place you and your team love.

There's no magic formula for a happy workplace. It comes down to truly loving your people and creating an environment where they can accomplish great things.

Reflect on this: How are you nurturing the energy within your organization, and what steps can you take to ensure it remains positive and productive?
