📅 Today is the last day of the month, and the last day to prepare for a smooth August accounting close. 💼
Follow these tips to finalize your books quickly and empower your management team to make data-driven decision. 📊
1️⃣ Post all bank and credit card transactions to date. This minimizes outstanding transactions come the first week of the month. 🏦💳 2️⃣ Record monthly amortization and depreciation for unchanged assets. 📉 3️⃣ Roll forward prepaid expense schedules and book monthly expenses. 📅 4️⃣ Review outstanding receivables and payables to ensure completeness and accuracy. ✅🔍BONUS- follow up with customers who have large aging balances to try to collect ASAP.
At Proseer, we call this process a "soft close" 🔒.
By following these steps, you'll be ready for timely review and quick decision-making. 🎯💡#entrepreneurship #accounting #financialclose #datadriven
When 📈Laurence Bernstein, CPA and I started Proseer almost 4 years ago, we had a detailed business plan covering all the usual elements - revenues, pricing, customers, software. I thought I had a clear picture of where the business would go.
Last week our journey took me almost 10,000 miles from home to meet half of our team in Bohol, Philippines, an island in the Central Visayas region, for our inaugural overseas team offsite.
It was my first visit to the Philippines and the first time our team had been together since they each joined the company. In addition to team building and bonding we got to experience many of the reasons the country is a bucket list destination for travelers worldwide.
The Filipino word "Mabuhay"- encapsulating both a warm welcome and a celebration of life - ran deep throughout my trip. Our team's passion for their country, dedication to the work we do, and overall warmth left me inspired and encouraged for a bright future ahead.
I’ll need a few weeks to recover from the jet lag, but I came back with a renewed sense of focus and clarity on the opportunity for us to keep growing together.
Our path may continue to take unexpected and incredible turns, but I'm more certain than ever that we're heading in the same direction we set for ourselves 4 years ago.
Mabuhay! Here’s to the journey ahead.
