Six years ago today I learned that my brother had died by suicide. Craig had been suffering from severe depression for years - while raising a family and managing a business. Since his death, the mental health crisis has only accelerated across all age groups. It's currently estimated that roughly half of the world's population - nearly 4 billion people - will be diagnosed with a mental illness in their lifetime. 40% of high school students feel persistently sad and hopeless. And to quantify for those inclined - the mental health crisis is currently costing global business about $1 trillion annually - and unfortunately - that number will continue to grow.

So what can we do? We need to recognize the depth of the problem: make mental health services available to children and adults - where and when they need it. There is no silver bullet. It's about leadership and focus. I believe that business, political and community leaders need to collaborate to develop innovative solutions which deliver real results with urgency and commitment.

Let's make it happen.
