Update #5 from the Virtuoso Travel Tech Summit here in Vegas.
Deloitte’s @Carolyn Coda, MD of travel and hospitality had a brilliant talk. She had four C’s for travel advisors. She shared her framework for bundling travelers, Clout / Convenience / Comfort Using this framework, you can identify what type of travel a guest wants. Do they want Clout (like the Kardashians), Convenience (like Warren Buffet) or Comfort like me?
She had a separate C for Confidence. In high stake trips / experiences, and with low familiarity of the surroundings, communications guarantees and support needs to be at an all time high.
She shared some nice slides. Here are some of my favs:
As boomers age out for frequent travel, younger generations will account for nearly 90% of trips by 2030.
Choosing a service for you client is getting more difficult. Because there are more choices. Examples: Airlines are expanding their service offerings. Lufthansa reveals new Alegis product, with 14 different seat options.
We need a better way to gauge guests' needs for service.
Gen Z and millennials are quick to embrace TilTok as a planning tool changing the rules of travel influencing and advertising. Percentage of US travelers using share social video to plan their trips: 75%+ Of all Tiktok users credit the app for influencing their recent travel purchases. 35% Of US Tiktok users traveled to a new destination after they saw a video on the platform 3 in 10 Of US users made bookings at a new resort hotel and visited a new attraction.

Update #4 from the Virtuoso Travel Tech Summit here in Vegas.
There was an extremely innovative AI themed round table talk lead by Gilad Berenstein, in conversation with: Janet Semenova | Co-Founder, Boutique Travel Advisors @Katie Robertson | Digital Product & Technology Director, 360 Private Travel @Jake Pelers | Co-Founder & CTO/CPO Fora @George Balogh | Owner, Blue Skies Travel
Here are some of my favs; Jake mentioned GPT’s structured object update. https://lnkd.in/epbqC9mZ He also mentioned Algolia as the engine for search and recommendation, and I couldn't agree more. He called AI a great secretary, able to take complex ALL CAP data and translate to easy to read bullets.
Janet talked about creating a knowledge base based on G Drive. In a call, meeting notes are summarized, then encrypted, and then added to internal AI to read it and make it retrievable. They call their AI “Iris”, it helps make writing emails faster, its trained on their voice, and solves those ankle biter “micro-problems.”
Loved George’s strategic coach approach to adopting AI. His 8 person team has ramped up with AI in a very thoughtful way.
Katie asked, Does every agency need to create an API to share customer preferences with hotels?
