Jeffrey Pfeffer is a prominent American business theorist and the Thomas D. Dee II Professor of Organizational Behavior at the Stanford Graduate School of Business, where he has taught since 1979.135 Born on July 23, 1946, in St. Louis, Missouri, Pfeffer has made significant contributions to the field of organizational behavior and management.3

Education and Career

Pfeffer received his BS and MS degrees from Carnegie-Mellon University and his PhD from Stanford University.13 He began his academic career at the University of Illinois and later taught at the University of California, Berkeley from 1973 to 1979 before joining Stanford.3

Pfeffer has authored or co-authored 16 books and over 160 articles and book chapters.56 His research focuses on various aspects of organizational behavior, including:
