Highlights
Successfully recovered from the flu to make it in time to the DealStreetAsia Indonesia PE-VC Summit in #Jakarta. Thanks to Dean Krstevski Ankur Mehrotra Reza Ari Wibowo and Minjun Liang for sharing their thoughts as we discussed the profit and the opportunity in the two pillars of #fintech and #financialinclusion - #credit and #payments, the role fintech has yet to play in reaching #Indonesia’s #unbanked and #underbanked, and how government and the private sector can navigate the way forward together. Many roads lead to Rome but it was great to hear the journeys so far of DANA Indonesia , JULO and LinkAja . And cheers to the next generation of fintech founders building audacious products that we have yet to see take center stage.
Big thanks to the Singapore FinTech Association (SFA), Fintech Nation and Russell Reynolds Associates for the invite to speak at the Singapore FinTech Festival today! Pleasure sharing a panel with Caecilia Chu Patricia Tan 陈芷榆 and Tawishi Singh and do check out the Women in Fintech report we discuss here: https://lnkd.in/g5_AJq7n
Diversity of representation gets talked about so much these days that sometimes we forget why it’s important. But to truly drive change, it’s important to take that question seriously, otherwise we risk mistakenly giving the impression that we’re driving change for change’s sake.
In general half of the ultimate customers of the companies we invest in at Integra Partners are women - whether that’s B2C companies where half of all consumers are women, or B2B companies whose customers serve customers who are 50% women. And just as we realize that it’s hard to be truly effective investors in countries like Vietnam or Indonesia or the Philippines without including local, on-the-ground perspectives on our team, it leads to much better outcomes if we have a diversity of gender perspectives in evaluating investment opportunities. #fintech #inclusion
