Highlights
2 weeks ago, all 430+ of Jobs for the Future (JFF) gathered in Boston for the annual company All Staff retreat. During the retreat, we celebrated an incredible year, formally welcomed new teammates from Markle Foundation and discussed ways to further our mission of achieving our North Star (in 10 years, 75 million people facing systemic barriers to advancement, will work in quality jobs). Since Jobs for the Future (JFF) is fully remote it was great meeting all my colleagues from all over the country in person.
The 4 day retreat was awesome for SO reasons but my favorite moment was meeting (in person) the awesome founding Project Management and Execution team I built and lead.
This year, my team established JFF's Project Portfolio Management system, organized a quarter-long, cross-functional design thinking workshop to align on and document how we execute project work, and built a stellar foundation to manage and report on a portfolio of 100+ projects, across 6 business units that span the non-profit, tech, private and government sectors. These projects have a direct impact on millions who we impact through our collaborative work at JFF. I am looking forward to the upcoming year and I am so grateful to lead a team of amazing project and portfolio managers.
RenderATL (Render Atlanta) is absolutely amazing. Being in the presence of so many amazing global Black technologists, policy makers and futurists leading across AI, machine learning, social networkinging etc.. while connecting themes which influence the future of education, workforce and development is truly energizing. Add a backdrop of ATL culture and influence and its absolutely a vibe.
I was extremely thankful for the opportunity to link up with the crew from Project 9 at the Square event. Project 9 not only led devlopment for Render’s website but also developed my company’s Plant Lady Juice Co. website. Major shoutout to Jake Ballard and Branden Thornton it was awesome to finally all meet in person at the Square event and for you all to try the product! Akilah Roberts and I are forever grateful.
Thankful to be in the presence of Black women like Angie Jones whose impact is felt by all Black women in leadership postions—so much I have learned from you.
Also major salute to Justin E. Samuels what you have built with Render is extremely important and impactful to Atlanta and beyond—especially as our world continues to evolve.
