Dr Jenny Burbage is an Associate Professor in Applied Biomechanics & Women's Health at the University of Portsmouth.1 She joined the university in 2007 as a research assistant and associate lecturer, and has since progressed in her academic career.1 Dr Burbage completed her PhD in 2013, focusing on breast support implications for female recreational athletes.1

Her primary research interests are in breast biomechanics and breast health, particularly investigating issues such as breast pain, poor bra fit, functional breast support, and the effect of breast support on performance during occupational activities.1

Dr Burbage is actively involved in research and innovation activities as part of the Research Group in Breast Health.1 She has also taken on leadership roles, such as chairing the fifth Women in Sport and Exercise Academic Network (WiSEAN) conference hosted by the University of Portsmouth in June 2024.2

In addition to her research and teaching responsibilities, Dr Burbage has published several papers on breast health and bra considerations, including recent work on breast health for female police officers.1
