Highlights
This year at State Policy Network Annual Meeting was extra special for Love Your School and our team (and not just because it was in 🌵 Arizona)! We received the 2024 Ed Prize along with two amazing organizations, Libertas Institute and @8MillionStories ! We each had the opportunity to share about our passions and our work in the Education Freedom space. Unsurprisingly, one thread was constant throughout our panel conversation: our agreement that all kids deserve to be in the education environment that best meets their needs, and that loving families always know what's best for their kids (not big government or education bureaucrats)!
Innovative policy solutions like Education Savings Accounts (ESAs) are sweeping the nation, but there is still so much work to be done! I'm so thankful for the work of SPN affiliate organizations, and especially those who have been supportive of our work in their states like Goldwater Institute, Cardinal Institute for WV Policy and Alabama Policy Institute.
Many families, even in states with ESA programs, are unaware of these incredible and life changing options and struggle to access them. Education entrepreneurs need flexible programs and support before they'll launch in ESA states. Regulatory barriers even in ESA statutes and rules can keep parents frustrated and education service providers confused. Lack of market competition among ESA operating vendors means lack of purchase flexibility and higher costs. In short - there is continued need to dig deep and ensure these policy advance, are implemented efficiently, and serve their primary customer: families and children!
Love Your School is pleased to continue our work on the issues above, and most importantly, through our Parent Concierge Service - where we directly provide hope and solutions to thousands of families in Arizona, West Virginia, and as of this week, Alabama! Our latest project for Love Your School is Defending Education Freedom KIDS! I can't help but share the incredible submissions we are getting. Check out Grace's story:
"But I think the most important part of my educational journey is not how I was able to succeed in academics, but it was how I grew personally. Writing taught me to express my emotions in a healthy way. I used to feel a lot of shame because of my learning disabilities. I always felt like I was crawling when everyone was sprinting. The reason why I love educational freedom is because it allowed me to learn at my own pace and gave me so much more confidence. I am content with the way I am.
educational freedom is a choice a choice to choose to do something big or small it is learning absorbing listening understanding in a way that works best for us education freedom is countless opportunities racing thoughts bubbling ideas letting your beautiful mind run free" ~Grace M.
