Jeremiah Larson is the Police Chief for the City of El Cajon, having been appointed to the position effective December 18, 2024.134 He was previously a Captain with the El Cajon Police Department (ECPD).1 Larson succeeded Chief Mike Moulton, who retired after five years in the role.1

Larson is an El Cajon native and a graduate of Granite Hills High School. He joined the El Cajon Police Department in 2002.1 He was promoted to Sergeant in 2014 and then to Lieutenant in 2019.1 Prior to becoming police chief, Larson was promoted to Captain in 2023.1 City Manager Graham Mitchell selected Larson to become the city's 16th police chief.1

Larson earned a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from National University and a master's in public-safety leadership from the University of San Diego.12 He is also a graduate of the Senior Management Leadership Institute for Police in Boston.1
