This year I turned 40.
And, while a definite cliché, this milestone has incited the most career introspection I've felt since I started working. What do I like/dislike doing? When have I felt most fulfilled and inspired? How can I use those experiences to inform this next phase of my life?
And over the past 15 years of working in the video & content space at exciting places like 2010-14 era Twitter, 2014-18 era BuzzFeed, The Players’ Tribune and Modern Health I've come to learn a very clear thing about myself.
I like to build.
Whether that's building a department, a team or a process. Or creative builds like a video series, a new platform strategy or a single video. The moments in my career I've felt most inspired and proud, are when I was trying to build something I'd never done before. And working with others that felt that same excitement for that same reason.
So two things are clear to me as I move into my forties. 1) I want to keep building in new areas and 2) I want to help others build.
With that in mind I have two updates to share:

A private campground and events venue created specifically for outdoor enthusiasts, digital nomads and gatherings of all sizes.
Two years ago my partner and I bought 37 acres of the most beautiful PNW land I'd ever seen. 30 minutes outside of Portland, OR (my home state), and set in a heavily forested valley with a rushing creek, 7 ponds, 2+ miles of private hiking trails and a 2500 sq ft barn. We wanted to build a place where the professional ambition and creativity of the city meets the beauty and nature of the country.
We'd both lived in major cities like NY, SF, LA and PDX our entire adult lives and in these 2+ years of being "landtrepreneurs" we've had to learn how to start a business, ride a tractor, use a chainsaw, pave new driveways, build fences and gates, dig ditches for internet lines and drainage fields, and physically build in pretty much every way imaginable. And now...finally... we're open for business.
It's by far the hardest and most fun job I've ever had and the building phase will last my lifetime, which is what I love about it most. So if you're looking for some outdoor time, a home for your next gathering or just want to catch up and hear more please get in touch!
