Highlights
My latest chapter at McKinsey & Company is coming to a close. Both as a consultant and more recently leading knowledge management products internally, I’ve been fortunate to have great mentors and teammates, notably the ‘Lions’ in recent years working on KNOW. Outstanding leaders like Rob Latoff showed the path already years ago, in doing the right thing and creating opportunity – and helping develop others.
More recently Suraj Sharma has been an essential partner and business leader in the Firm’s internal software products. I’m proud of what we accomplished in CRM and Knowledge management! KNOW is the most-used and highest-rated Firm product and your support has been essential in evolving strategy and ensuring resourcing to enable these outcomes. I can’t mention absolutely everyone in the Lions and KNOW teams but we were fortunate to have amazing people and the space to grow and deliver. We were entrusted as the pilot team for the new Way of Working. Most are still in touch and I hope to keep it that way! Ritu Lal played an essential role in expressing our identity as Lions, and so many others made it perhaps the best team I’ve worked with: Vishal Sharma, Tiberiu Gavris, Maninder Singh Bawa, Gaurav Sharma, Sumit Garg, MBA, Sunil Kumar, Prerana Karad, Tritraya Bose, Rajan Julka, not to mention Felipe Vianna and Petra Kummerova in support of our AI projects, and more recently Souradipta Roy, and colleagues like Dan Trainor and Alejandro Sanchez. I’m missing more than half here but thanks all for the great collaboration and learning these recent years. As I depart, I am also recognizant of the Montreal office and leaders like Laurie Lanoue who ensured connection with the local office despite my global mandate and remote work. Thanks also to Shweta Juneja, Frédéric Jacques and others who brought me into client situations, which was always fun and rewarding.
All the best to my friends and colleagues as you continue to pursue your essential missions, in knowledge management and beyond. I’ll be cheering for you and will keep in touch.
A very useful read, if you have customers! Collecting and processing (and now predicting) customer info is here to stay. These are not fads. Today they can be differentiators, and will be taken for granted as business infrastructure within 10 years. We are at the beginning, reminiscent of living in the first years of electrifying urban neighborhoods. What is your business doing? What have your competitors done?
