❓ Crossworks Career Bootcamp: QnA/NGL session held over the weekend for prospective bootcampers- we overran by 1 HOUR!
Over the weekend, Min Thaw and I held a casual QnA session for some of the 300+ individuals who indicated interest in our inaugural 1-year full time career bootcamp (HR/Digital marketing specialisation) 🚀.
⏳ What was intended to be a hour-long session lasted twice as long as we were barraged with all sorts of questions such as job prospects, how the income-share agreement payment model would work as well as the curriculum, and we tried our best to provide as honest and unfiltered answers as possible.
💡 Here's a slither of our discussion: Q: Why is Crossworks doing this 🤔? A: For every 100 applicants we receive for remote job positions, we can only hire 1 currently, but we believe that with some polishing and training in essential job skills, we can help 10x the number of people to be placed in such remote international jobs while remaining in Myanmar 🇲🇲.
Q: Is a job 👨💼 👩💼 guaranteed after the training? A: Nothing is guaranteed in life, and whether one finds work is dependent on the quality of the programme as well as individual effort and fit with employers' demands. However, we are on the same team as the income share agreement only kicks in after you make at least the same amount as before the bootcamp.
Q: Why should I quit my job to join this programme 🤷♂️? A: If you're presently working in a local company and find your career stagnating or not advancing sufficiently quickly, this is a way to go slow to go faster- based on our observations, one can get a 50-100% pay boost by working with international companies remotely, with faster increments as well 📈
Q: 💰 Tell me more about the repayment plan since there are no upfront costs (other than a small deposit)? A: 25-35% of income from your job after the completion of the career bootcamp will go toward repayment of the course fees. The target repayment period is between 12-18 months hence we are looking for individuals to be able to earn at least $400-700 sgd after completion of the programme.
Q: Will there be other specialisation tracks/bootcamp runs? A: We sure hope so 😃 - as this is our inaugural run, a lot will depend on what we observe from this experience. We will gauge the success, collect feedback and announce any future plans thereafter so stay tuned!

3️⃣ Crossworks Myanmar's 6th anniversary 🎉 celebrations 🍾 this Friday. It's important to celebrate the wins, small as they might be, take stock of the milestones the team has achieved + look to the future, uncertain as it may be.
Needless to say, walking the streets 🚶♂️, riding the bus 🚌 and plenty of delicious local food 😋 will be part of the itinerary as well.
📸 Glad to be able to return the two princesses 👸 Phyu Mar Kyaw (Joy) and Eaint Pan Myat Aung to their families in one piece after a 8-day Singapore adventure. The non-stop phone buzzing 📞 on the taxi speaks volumes about the ties that bind and strong familial bond which Myanmar people have.
