HOW CAN YOU CLAIM TO BE ORIGINAL, WHEN YOU'RE COPYING THE ORIGINAL? Last week, Sharp Europe issued a statement after we filed our copyright infringement lawsuit against them Thursday. I look forward to hearing their explanation in court – because what they have stated so is to me nothing but nonsense. They claim that we are painting a negative picture of Sharp. Not at all – we lay out the case as we see it: Sharp has violated our copyright and are trying to profit from the product that we started developing in our parents' backyards more than a decade ago - you can see young Jesper at work here in the second picture... :) They claim we haven't responded to them. We repeatedly sought dialogue in an attempt to find an amicable solution - but Sharp Europe rejected our factual documentation. In our opinion, there was nothing left to do but settle this in court. They claim that the case is being presented one-sided. When you see the speakers side by side, there are not many other ways to present the case. But we do look forward to them substantiating their claim and explaining their actions. Finally, they claim to take the case seriously. It's about time. In our correspondence, there has not been the slightest hint of understanding of our frustration that they are trying to steal our work. Lastly, they repeat their corporate slogan of 'Be Original'. I don't even know what to comment on that. Other than extending a formal invitation to Sharp to swing by our office in Copenhagen for a workshop in innovative speaker ideas... :)

Vi derfor i dag lagt sag an mod Sharp, som vi mener har krænket vores rettigheder ved at lave en kopiudgave af vores højtaler. Jeg er vred, skuffet, og frustreret over, at så stort et internationalt firma så åbenlyst forsøger at lukrere på det arbejde som er pågået de sidste 10 år siden Christoffer Nyvold, Hjalte Wieth og jeg stod og byggede højttalere i vores forældres haver. Kort sagt, vil vi ikke finde os i det. For hvis vi gør, hvad er perspektiverne så ikke?
Hvis kopivarer får frit lejde, kvæles innovation, og vi ender med monopollignende tilstande. Ved at stævne Sharp søger vi selvfølgelig personlig oprejsning og at få fjernet en kopi fra hylderne.
Men det er i høj grad også en principsag, som vi kæmper på vegne af mindre designvirksomheder.
