I've recently reviewed several hundred applications for designers and the 3 things that I wish that I could tell folks are:

  1. Put your links front and center - prioritize your linked in and portfolio. The way that recruiting software works just highlights those integrations best and you need to make sure that your work is seen.

  2. Show your process - I'm glad that you had a gorgeous design system but I really want to see how you think and apply your problem solving skills to get design solutions. Show the diagrams, the docs, the sketches!

  3. Tell a story - walk me through why you are highlighting the projects, the images, the docs. I assume that you have a lot to choose from so I am looking to see that you've curated it and can effectively communicate your design decisions.

Thanks for coming to my TED talk.
