Highlights
I’m happy to share that I’ve taken on a new role as Senior Communications Advisor at the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of Canada!
Last evening, I marked my last day of classes at McGill University by presenting my paper “Mineral Resources and Nation-Building: McGill and the Development of the Extraction Economy" at the launch of the 35th edition of the McGill History Students Association journal, Historical Discourses.
I wrote this paper in Fall 2020 as part of the course “The History of McGill” while studying remotely from my hometown of Trail, B.C. The limitations of remote work pushed me to think outside the box as I couldn’t access the McGill Archives typically relied upon for this class. Instead, I visited the local archives where I was intrigued to find a web of connections between my hometown and my soon-to-be alma mater going back to the mining boom at the turn of the 20th century.
I owe an immense thank you to Professor Suzanne Morton for supervising my research, as well as to the editing team for selecting my paper and working with me these past few months to prepare it for publication.
I hope you’ll enjoy reading about the impact of McGill alumni in the development of one of British Columbia’s formative industries!
