Professional Background
Jessica Manthey has built a commendable career in public policy, community organization, and education reform. Her diverse experiences reflect a steadfast commitment to serving underrepresented communities and advocating for effective policy changes. As a candidate for the Wiseburn Unified School District Governing Board, Jessica continues her mission to enhance educational opportunities and advocate for the needs of students and families in her district.
Before her current candidacy, Jessica served as the Principal and Founder of causeIMPACTS, where she led strategic initiatives aimed at fostering social change and community impact. At Parent Revolution, she excelled as the Manager of Policy Initiatives and Strategic Partnerships, as well as a Lead Organizer. These roles allowed her to develop and implement policies that directly aimed to empower parents and enhance educational systems across California.
In addition to her work at Parent Revolution, Jessica provided her expertise as a Campaign Policy Consultant, supporting various campaigns with insights on policy advocacy. Her dedication to youth services is further evidenced by her position as the Reentry Services Coordinator at Girls & Gangs, where she worked tirelessly to support young women transitioning from the justice system. Additionally, she played a pivotal role in the Los Angeles County Juvenile Re-entry Blueprint project, collaborating to enhance juvenile re-entry services.
Jessica began her professional journey at the Los Angeles Unified School District as a Program Analyst, where her insights contributed to impactful educational policies. At the start of her academic career, she also served as a Teaching Assistant at UCLA, focusing on Criminal Justice, which allowed her to shape the minds of future leaders in public policy.
Other notable positions include working with the Gamaliel Foundation in their Justice Overcoming Boundaries program, where she served as a Communications Manager and Community Organizer. This experience solidified her skills in grassroots mobilization and effective communication strategies. Furthermore, Jessica's international experience is highlighted by her role as a Program Developer at the Buduburram Liberian Refugee Camp in Ghana, where she worked with S.H.I.F.S.D (Self Help Initiative for Sustainable Development) to improve conditions for refugees.
Education and Achievements
Jessica Manthey's educational journey laid a significant foundation for her career in public service. She holds a Master’s degree in Public Policy from the UCLA School of Public Affairs, where she gained invaluable insights into policy analysis, public administration, and advocacy strategies. Her studies at UCLA equipped her with the knowledge and skills necessary to tackle complex societal issues.
Prior to her master's degree, Jessica completed her Bachelor’s degree in Global Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara. This undergraduate program provided her with a global perspective on historical, cultural, political, and economic issues that affect communities worldwide.
