Jessica Outlaw

Metaverse Researcher & Storyteller

Jessica Outlaw is a behavioral researcher dedicated to fostering inclusivity and accessibility in the metaverse. In 2021, she focused on privacy risks related to VR/AR data streams, conducting a survey of 1,010 individuals in the U.S. The research, sponsored by Meta Reality Labs, explored consumer awareness of data practices and the impact of Virtual and Augmented Reality technology.

Jessica's agency has a track record of promoting safety and inclusivity in social VR. She initiated a study in 2017 examining Women's First Time Experiences in Social VR, addressing issues of harassment and presenting solutions. Additionally, she co-developed an anti-racial bias training app with Clorama Dorvilias that received recognition through Oculus Launchpad.

An educator as well, Jessica teaches The Tech Ethics Toolkit course annually, aiming to enhance research and leadership capabilities for creators of emerging tech products. With a Master of Science in Marketing from the University of California, San Diego, and a BA in Health & Society from Scripps College, Jessica Outlaw brings a diverse educational background to her research and consultancy work in the VR/AR/Metaverse landscape.
