While we are all rejoicing over the #ETH ETF approvals, lets remember that it is without a staking component, so the investors don’t reap the benefit of a no fee offering and the issuers are in a race to zero with fee competition.
But why was it approved at all? Thats the real headline. I believe it was influenced by Coinbase putting congress feet to the fire with FIT21. They educated their ~100million savvy users of the platform on what this bill means to the future of innovation. I imagine some of the users were government officials who are either secret crypto maxis or were doing research. Either way, they felt the influence of these constituents and needed to approve something reasonable to save face. Kudos to Brian Armstrong and team for leading the charge.
What are some other bullish headlines that should get more attention? Here’s my short list:
▶ CoinShares paying a dividend. You need to have excess profit to do that!
▶ Revolut US moved their banking relationship to Community Federal Savings Bank (CFSB), a small regional bank in a strip mall in Woodhaven, NY. What do they know that we don’t?
▶ Joshua Lim and Shiliang Tang raising equity. . . and debt. . . for Arbelos Markets. See my previous post about debt issuance being such a sign of belief from creditors that you will crush it (and repay them)!
▶ Hidden Road getting FCM approval, making them the closest we have in crypto to a Prime Broker.
▶ Fireblocks submitting registration for an entity with NYDFS. Most institutions use Fireblocks MPC solution for asset movement management and are excited for their regulated solution. But the real headline is their custodian partner program.
▶ Joseph Naggar leaving GoldenTree Asset Management to run crypto at Republic. Joe crushed it as a partner at one of the top credit funds in the world, and left to double down on his conviction for digital assets.
