Cold pitching can provide the ROI you need but it’s far from the only option.

💬 10 approaches to LinkedIn comments 💬

Many talk about engaging on LI but how do you go about it (and what should you avoid)?

I’ve been frequenting LI since 2020 and here are 10 common comment types I’ve noticed…

  1. Support: Share support/agreement with a post. 💛

  2. Repeat: Repeat back what the poster said in different words 🤔 . (AI has made this more common.)

  3. Respectfully disagree: Respectfully oppose something about the post 💬 .

  4. Value-add: Acknowledge the post and then add to it in some way ➕ .

  5. Class clown: Come with humor and aim to make the poster and others laugh 😂

  6. Self-promote: Promote something under their post 📣 .

  7. “Covert" hate: Drop a passive-aggressive dig to put down the poster without fully committing to trolling 🐺 🐑 .

  8. Troll: Be overtly disrespectful in response to a post 🐍 .

  9. Engage: Join the conversation and contribute to keeping it going 🙂 .

  10. Visual: Respond with emojis/memes/gifs 👋 .

What's your approach?

I'm largely in camp 1, I'm here to build and help others build. But I do occasionally dabble in 3, 4 (when asked), 5, 9, and 10.

Not a fan of 2, 6 really depends, and won’t entertain 7 or 8.

How about you?

Which ones do you use? Which do you like best? And did I miss any?
